Yesterday we made our reservations at hotels for the first 3 days. First night we will be staying in Trementon, which puts us close to Golden Spike. Second night is Arco, ID in ear shot of Craters of the Moon. 3rd night we are staying at the Branding Iron in West Yellowstone, MT, which is right next to the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Unfortunately for us we end up in Yellowstone on Saturday, so we are paying a premium for the room, 139.00. Last year we stayed at the Branding Iron's Pony Express Motel for 79.00.
After Yellowston we will probably make our reservations that night just so we know how far we have to go for the day and whether we will be in before it gets dark out and the boogie rats come out to play.
